❌ Google Maps in China
Google Maps is not accessible in mainland China due to internet restrictions. Even if you use a VPN, the experience is unreliable and data may be outdated.
Solution: Use Chinese map apps instead. They offer superior coverage and real-time data for China.

- Works without VPN
- Integrated with iOS
- Turn-by-turn navigation
- Less detailed than Chinese apps in some areas
💡 Pro Tips
- Download before arrival: Get the apps and set them up before your flight
- Save addresses in Chinese: Have your hotel write their address in Chinese characters
- Use screenshots: Screenshot important locations to show taxi drivers
- Offline maps: Download offline maps for areas you'll visit
- Let locals help: Show your map to locals for assistance—they're usually happy to help
- Address format: Chinese addresses are written from large to small (City → District → Street → Number)
